Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York
Liability
Dear sirs, I work in a club. A patron was caught doing an illegal act in a restroom. He was thrown out of the club earlier in the night he returned later to cause trouble and assaulted myself and a cooworker. We were both arrested and I beat the subsequent criminal charge. I`m buying a house and this fellow has filed civil charges. Could this house be attached to any civil damages should this fellow get a judgement against me?

Re: Liability
Yes, if there is a judgment against you, he can collect against that asset. There are a number of possibilities for you to escape liability altogether. This depends upon the manner in which you "beat" the criminal charge, the nature of the claims against you (intentional tort or negligence) and the availability of a defense through your employer's insurance company.
