mandatory insurance
my husband and i secured a loan from the credit union, he's the primary. we purchased a car and i insured and registered the car in my name. my husband does not drive. is it mandatory that he insured the vehicle?

In New York, the registered owner of the car is legally liable for any accidents, so liability insurance is required (to register the car, among other things). Anything further would result from a) the loan agreement or (b) common sense: collision and comprehensive is a good idea on a new car, even if it's not required. But I don't know of any lender that doesn't require it.
