Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York
Let me start from the beginning. My child's father resides in my house, and our home insurance policy is under both our names, but I pay the insurance. A couple of weeks ago the house was robbed, and all of MY things were taken. When I received the check, it had both our names on it, and we could only cash it by putting it into our joint bank account.
I was planning on using this money on a business I am currently opening, and he is jealous of my success. He is an egotistic *** and wants to see me fail. He is now threatening to take half of the money, since his name was on the check. What do I do?
Is it legal for me to withdraw the money out of the account?
