Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York
I've been working for my employer for many years. When I and others started work we were promised lifetime health insurance upon retirement. I'm near retirement age. Our employee will no longer honor the lifetime health insurance. Can they do this?

The promise must be in writing. If not, you should have corroboration from other employees attesting to the existence and offer of this promise. If you relied on this promise to your detriment, for e.g., foregoing other job offers or job possibilities, you may be able to enforce your rights in court, or obtain monetary judgment for the value of the insurance, inclusive of any medicare co-pay or insurance coverage premiums.
