Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York
Articles for website
I own a dating website. I would like to put articles on the ''single life'' from a variety of magazines on my website. How can I have there articles reside on my website without royalties? Is it ok if I put the articles on my website and make sure to quote the author and magazine? Please let me know. Thanks!

No, it's not alright, it's stealing. Merely acknowledging whom you stole it from does not mitigate the theft.
You need a license from each copyright owner whose work you seek to profit from. To accomplish this, you need to approach the copyright holder's rights manager (sometimes it's the same entity) and negotiate terms (though often owners have standard t&c forms that are not negotiable (i.e. take it or leave it)).

Ditto the first post. Usually, the magazine masthead advises who to contact for permissions.
