Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

I have a commercial website with content I created. Someone else created a commercial website and copied my content verbatim. What can I do? What are my legal rights? Can I sue? Thanks,

They stole your intellectual property. You can send a cease and desist letter that directs them to stop infringing on your IP immediately. The typical first step is to send a cease and desist letter. If that doesn't help, then you can sue.

A competent New York intellectual property lawyer can send out a cease and desist letter pretty quickly. That usually does the trick.

Hope this helps.

My colleague is correct. In addition, you should consider filing a copyright registration for your online content. Such registration would allow you to sue for damages and ask for attorney fees.

Generally, cease-and-desist letters have a much stronger impact if directed by an attorney. Feel free to contact my office at your earliest convenience.
