That all depends on what issues you are talking about.

If it is about employment, that will be governed by the terms of any contract that may be in place and the circumstances of the employment itself. In general the at-will nature of NY will allow the employers to say goodbye and have a nice day without any potential problems.

If you are asking about unpaid wages, you become an unsecured creditor of the firm and are entitled to payment from its assets before distributions are made to its shareholders, partners, etc.
