Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

Estate Question

For rights of publicity how does one discover if a deceased celebrity has an estate? How does one find such an estate? Unfortunately, I assume this is not something that is found in the telephone book.

Try calling the Surrogate Court in the county in which the person was deceased, they should be able to help you. The Surrogate Court's number should be listed in the white pages (for example, person deceased in Manhattan, call NY county Surrogate Court).
