Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

Exclusive Rights

I inted to sell Instrumentals to artists who want to add their vocals to them. Which kind of rights should I give if I want the most money? Is temporarily granting exclusive rights the best idea?

Re: Exclusive Rights

Licensing the work would seem the most likely method. If you'd like to discuss the issue, please feel free to get in touch.

Re: Exclusive Rights

What Mr. Browde said, with a couple of caveats: If you did not write the music, be aware that the composer/rights owner will be entitled to royalties from you. If you do not perform the music, be aware that the performer/rights owner will be entitled to royalties from you.

That said, licensing may well be your best bang for the buck. I can help with that; feel free to call my office to discuss.
