Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

Is my invention patentable

i have a design that i would like patented for a protective body suit. is this patentable? i only ask because i have family members who attempted to obtain a patent years ago only to find out that it was in the public domain and thus not patentable, and i have done searches using google patents and have found no designs that seem to conflict.

It is not possible to determine whether your invention is patentable until you provide a FULL disclosure (do _NOT_ do this in a public forum!!!!). You need to contact a patent attorney or agent to perform a patent search on the invention to determine whether or not the invention is already out there (we go way beyond GOOGLE in the process of patent searching).
