liability

My son's friend dropped our camera. My son gave permission for friend to use. It will cost 200+ to fix..Item is 4 years old . original cost 329 .We can by a replacement for under 200. Who is liable for damages/

Gen. Colin Powell said about the Iraq War, something like "you break it you fix it." The concept of the party doing property damage being responsible is an ancient one and likely goes back to prehistory. Tell your friend to fork up. Even if it weren't a concept of common law, a 'friend' would make the offer before you had the uncomfortable prospect of deciding what to do.
