Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

reproducing internet material

can i copy a material that i saw in one website and eventually put it in my own website? is it valid under Newyork law? what law should apply?

Federal law covers copyrights. The source of the material and what you do with the material will ultimately determine whether the use is legal or not. Copyright law is complicated and you would be safest having an attorney advise you on how to use the material legally, if that is in fact possible.

You may not compy material that you saw on a website absent permission, in the form of a license, from the owner of any copyright on that material.
