Scanning a Book for Classroom Use
Can an elementary teacher scan an entire children's early reader book (18 pages) for the purpose of projecting it onto a screen for the entire class to see and read together? The scanned pages would not be distributed, just projected? Does copyright law permit this?

Federal copyright law includes a "fair use" doctrine which exempts certain unauthorized uses of copyright material from infringement liability. Teaching in the classroom is one of these exemptions.
This is a fancy way of saying that I wouldn't lose sleep over this type of use, as it is typically permitted by law.
