Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

I used someone's picture and said it was me. Now she's threatening me to call the cops. Can I get in trouble? The person said I'm doing identity theft. What kind of trouble will I get in? And will I get into jail and such? I didn't use it to commit any crimes, I just used it and showed it to online people. I just used her picture and said it was me. I used my name and everything, just her pictures. Please tell me what trouble I will get into.

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say the following. It's not clear you even engaged in identity theft. What you did is not even identified as identity theft by the non-profit Identity Theft Resource Center. It more likely borders on impersonation, which can be a felony if you're prosecuted and found guilty. And these days, with cutbacks in government budgets, this is not an even remotely high profile case. There are bigger and more serious crimes warranting prosecution. But you never know. Consult with a good criminal law or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
