IP Address of end users
I run a big forums site that has individuals that control there section. when they ban a user they want to take legal action against the poster and always ask me for there ip. what legil issues are there for me to let them get posters ip address that use slander on the forums? can i just give it to them? if i give it to them and they track them down and hurt mange or kill them am i responcable ?
i would like to put an ip revealer in there control panel so they can get the abusers ip address

If you already have privacy policy and terms of use governing behavior on your fori site, you should make sure that whatever you are proposing to do complies with them. Beyond that, you may not want to be involved in your users' disputes for a whole host of legal and business reasons.

You should have a policy of requiring a subpoena before you give out any information. Otherwise, you will not be protecting your customers. Your idea about the ip revealer will probably kill your traffic. Contact me if you want a good policy on this and law firm you can rely on.
