Legal Question in Investment Law in New York

dad own land in n.c. but lost deed

dad owns 1 acrea of land in north carolina. Im dad oldest

biological daughter, and executrix of dad will. In the will

dad left me the parcel of land in north carolina, but I cannot find the deed. If someone stole dad deed to the land

how can I put a stop on it to keep them from selling this land that dad left me in his will. What should I do without the deed. Dad passed on 4/12/04. Can someone take the deed

and try to sell his land? Can I stop this from happening, I i have dad will.

Thanks

Jenet

Re: dad own land in n.c. but lost deed

The deed is undoubtedly recorded in the county where the property is located. There should be a record of your father's acquistion of the property and you should be able to obtain a copy of the deed from the County or through the efforts of a local title company
