Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in New York
13 yr old accused of endangering welfare of child
My 13 yr old daughter was at the park with a couple of friends. Three children began throwing sand at her. She repeatedly asked them to stop. They persisted and she gave one of them a ''wedgie(?)''. This was confirmed by one of the children present. A couple of weeks later I find out the parents are pressing charges against my daughter. They claim she spoke to an officer at the park and told them she picked up a child and dropped him to the floor 3 times. My daughter claims there was no officer at the park and she never told anyone that. The charges are endangering the welfare of a child. Will this hold up in court?

Re: 13 yr old accused of endangering welfare of child
Under the circumstances described, it shouldn't
But, given the age of your child, you should be
in Family Court, where just about anything goes
and the standard of proof is not beyond a reasonable
doubt, and there are no juries.
I would hire an attorney to defend asap
