Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in New York
staying home
i was wondering if it was legal if a 16 year old could stay home alone over night. and how old you have to be in order to move out legally

Although there is no "set" age, a sixteen year old could probably be left alone for a night or two. On the other hand if the child has shown a lack of maturity in the past or suddenly has an urge to "go crazy" there could be trouble. Obviously if leaving the child alone, there should be people checking up on him to avoid a "party" that turns into a drunkfest.
Anyone injured in, or because of, that party, would be eligilbe to sue the owner of the home and the parents.
