Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

about 20 years ago in florida I was convicted on lewd and licivious behavior(prostitution) and then the second time it was prostitution and the 3rd one was a felony of grand theft involving fraud of credit cards. I have not had anything from that time. I copied and pasted this below when I googled article 23A of New York's correction Law

"Direct relationship" means that the nature of criminal

conduct for which the person was convicted has a direct bearing on

his fitness or ability to perform one or more of the duties or

responsibilities necessarily related to the license, opportunity, or

job in question.

So I am an ultrasound technician and applied for a job and was denied. I really feel it is because of my criminal record. Please Tell me if those convictions would give an employer the legal right to deny me. I applied for this job in New York.

It is possible that your past convictions were the reasons for being denied an employment opportunity; however, it would be best for you to obtain a complete background check from a private investigator before you draw any conclusions.
