abuse of supervisory authority

my immediate supervisor harbors animosity towards me and is using his position to harass and discriminate in an effort to undermine my integrity. How should I address this issue?

Re: abuse of supervisory authority

How is this supervisor "discriminating" against you? Is it on the basis of sexual gender? race? age? health/pregnancy? Are you claiming sexual harassment?

There are many different avenues of recourse available depending on the specifics, including a lawsuit, arbitration/mediation if you have an employment agreement that requires it, a request for an investigation with the EEOC, a complaint and proceeding with the NYS Division of Human Rights, etc., etc.

The NYS Div. of Human Rights has alot of good information on what types of acts in the workplace are illegal. Perhaps start there to see if you fit any of the categories. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer for at least an initial consultation, many employees file complaints with the Div. of Hum. Rts. by themselves in an informal manner and the Division will commence an investigation procedure that often times results in settlements and/or corrective action.

Re: abuse of supervisory authority

if your supervisor is abuisng an employment policy, you can speak to his supervisor or a human resources contact. If you are in a union you can speak to your union rep. If the conduct is of an illegal nature you can make a complaint to the appropriate State or Federal agency..

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.
