Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I used to own a business with a business partner. we had an employee there who I just found out bascially told all the clients we were going out of business and stole the clients. this was 5 years ago. My former business partner toldme that. It took away my livihood for 2 years i have struggled and now am on food stamps. can i sue my old employee for she signed a contract saying she would not take any cleints.i am on long island and i had corporate clients in a travel agency
