Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I was chosen for a job at a very important hospital in my area and my boss gave me a bad reference, then bragged it was because she didnt want to train anyone for my position. There is no documentation to back up the bad reference she gave me, to the contrary, my file has very good letters in it. HR is dragging their feet and any chance of working at that hospital is ruined because she told them I was rude and disrepectful. Should I or could I even benefit from a lawyer?

You should discuss this matter with an attorney. If your boss knowingly gave false information, he/she may have defamed you, which resulted in harm and potential economic loss. An attorney will get all of the facts from you and discuss your options.
