contractor who owes employees money
There is a contractor who is working out of Ashville,NY. who claims his business is base in Maryland and hires people from the surrounding areas and doesn't pay for services rendered!He tells them he pays every two weeks but finds reasons to fire you before you get paid and tells you he'll send you the money when he gets paid for the job and just drags it out until the people get tired of waiting or they are intimidated by his demenor!

The contractor's behavior is illegal under both NY and Federal law. You are likely entitled to bring a lawsuit against the contractor to recover unpaid wages. In fact, as a penalty for violating the law, the contractor may be responsible for paying you liquidated damages (double what you're owed) as well as your attorneys fees and costs.
