If a person works from 3pm-11pm and then continues to work from 11pm to 7am is he entitled to only 1 hour of overtime (from 11pm-12am)because 12am starts a new work day? What is the definition of ''a work day'' re: overtime pay for more than 8 hours in a work day?

Re: Definition of a work day re: overtime

Many companies take advantage of their employees by not properly (and legally) paying them overtime. Employees who have been unfairly deprived of overtime pay are entitled to back pay and in some cases, punitive damages.

Your question depends on a number of factors, particularly whether you are a union employee whose work schedule was part of a collective bargain agreement.
