Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
Drug testing in the workplace
My employer has asked that I sign a release for drug testing. On the form it asks that I list prescription drugs I am taking in addition to a release of medical information from my doctor to my employer. Signing a drug testing release is one thing but a release of medical information from my doctor to my employer is quite another. Can my employer demand that I release my private medical information to him?? Thank you for your help.

Re: Drug testing in the workplace
He can request it, he cannot demand it and you can refuse to provide such information. However, unless you have union backing or a contract for employment, your employer si not obligated to continue your employment if you refuse his request.
