Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I have been employed by a company for over 20 years. Recently I have heard that because of financial problems, he is requiring employees who receive health insurance benefits pay 3/4 of it and employees who do not receive health insurance benefits are going to be told that they have to go on a 1099. I do not receive health benefits. Can I be forced to go on a 1099?

My employer is not the most ethical person and has always tried to find work-arounds to benefit him. Basically, I don't trust him. He has been known for doing many things that seem unethical to me but he gets away with it. He may tell me that he is allowed to make me go on a 1099 and try to get me to agree. I just want to know if he is legally allowed to do that. If he is, it does not seem fair to me, but I realize that life isn't always fair.

Yes, currently, your employer can end his employer sponsored health care benefits would suggest that you hang in there until the implementation of the new health care legislation recently signed into law by The President that will give you and your employer a few options for coverage.
