Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Employee file

I live and work for a publicly traded

company in NYC. I started work for

this company in July 2000.

I'm thinking about leaving my job

and starting my own company that

would compete directly with my

employer.

I can't recall if I signed a non-

compete upon hire - let alone what

might have been in such a

document. I have moved twice while

working for this company and some

of my copies of my employment

records have been lost.

What rights do I have to view my

employee file?
