Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Employee privacy rights

We recently received an email from human resources stating that they will be taking everyone's picture and will be posting the pictures on the company's intranet with the firms telephone listings and that the pictures were mandatory. Is this legal and can we refuse to have our pictures posted. Is there a particular law that I can bring to their attention since I feel this is an invasion of my personal privacy- the name & telephone number I understand but not the picture. Thank you.
