Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
Employer asks me to hold my paycheck
My employer is asking us to hold our paychecks for three or four days, and not to deposit, with no reason given... This doesn't even feel legal??????

Re: Employer asks me to hold my paycheck
You can file a complaint with the New York State Department of Labor if your employer does not have funds to honor your paycheck. That being said, there's nothing illegal about asking you to hold your check, but also nothing legally stopping you from attempting to deposit the check. Of course, if the checks bounce, you'd be charged by your bank for the return of the drafts, so consider all options before taking action.
Good luck!
