Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

False information reported to unemployment

Unemployment recently informed me that my case was in jeopard of being dropped due to the fact that an ex employer reported that I was ''fired due to misconduct'' This is not true and in fact I quit and can prove this very easily. Unemployment informed me that they have a letter stating my discharge that was sent to them from this ex employer as well as a statement made from a phone call. Do I have any kind of case against my ex employer??

Re: False information reported to unemployment

If you are denied unemployment benefits you will have a right to appeal that decision. If you feel that you were fired or forced out by your employer, other than your own misconduct, then you may have a strong case for unemployment benefits.

If you have any other questions feel free to contact me. Take care.
