Final Paycheck After Giving Notice

I have submitted a 2-week notice to my boss. Is he required to pay me for the entire 2 weeks even if he only has me work for 1 of the 2 weeks?

Re: Final Paycheck After Giving Notice

No, he's not. Providing an employer with two weeks notice is a courtesy, not a legal obligation. At several companies, upon receiving a two-week notice, they will escort you out the door within the hour. They only have to pay you for time you have worked.

In general, you should always consult with an attorney before resigning. A competent severance attorney may be able to help you obtain a financially rewarding severance package, particularly if you have been employed for several years.
