Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I found a suspicious direct deposit to my bank account from my former employer at the end of 2008 and asked HR to check and confirm the deposit. After several requests they reiterated no mistake so I kept the money. Now they asked me to repay them the amount corresponding to the before tax gross of the amount deposited to my account. What should I do? I'm in New York.

You should return the money or make arrangements to repay the money if it has been used. This is considered unjust enrichment.
