Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Harrassment/Defamation of Character

I just recently started a new job. I've been here about a week and the manager, has called me dumb,& stupid, he has snatched things out of my hand. he used profanity at me and while doing so he put his hands in my face. Everyday there is something new with him from verbally abuse me to telling other my co workers that I can't do the work correctly. Then he tells me what a great job I'm doing.

He told me one amount on my interview, then I ofund out that he changed my yearly salary, I asked him about it, he told me that he told me it would be that new salary. He never told me that, because I would have never taken the job for that low of a yearly salary for the work I do. On the ad has the base salary that was promised to me on the Interview. There were 2 women who started the job I have, one left today and the other left after her first day, this all on account of his behavior. I have been logging the dates, times and incidents that happened.

Do I have gounds to Sue him, being that I've only been on the job for a week?

Re: Harrassment/Defamation of Character

You may have grounds to sue for breach of contract if you can prove the amount offered and accepted was concrete and different fro mthe actual amount paid. However, your damages would be miniscule and wouldn't be worth a lawsuit. I suggest you follow the example of your co-workers and you look for another job.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.
