Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

hired under false pretenses

I was hired by a company on a ''permanent'' basis. The time of my hire my company new my supervisor was going to be transferred. I was told by another assistant they originally wanted a ''temp'' assistant but knew I wouldn't take the job as a temp. My boss did move to another state and I was ''offered'' a job with two of the worst supervisors in the company. Thereby, forcing my hand and forcing me to leave to seek employment elsewhere. Although I was an ''at will'' employee (no contract) I feel I could have been gainfully emplyoyed at another company for a longer period of time had I known the plan was ''temporary'' all along? As an at will employee do I have any recourse?
