Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I.A.T.S.E. Local 52, New York

Recently, the union that I belonged to

kicked me out because I fell behind in

dues ($510.)... when I offered to pay

and bring my dues to current, I was

informed that they won't let me back in

for two years! As this has been my

principle source of income, I'm

screwed... can they prevent me from

getting an active card back for two

years? PS... I was kicked out in June

'06, but didn't learn of my expulsion

until last week... the union accepted

withholdings from pay stubs on jobs I

worked on thru December '06...

wouldn't that consistute a continuation

in some way of my membership?...

You need to explain the entire story and show all the documents to an attorney.

If you want to try to pursue it yourself

you can look into it through the US DOL,

or State Labor offices.
