Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I am an independent contractor in the state of New York. I have a client that I fear my not pay me for my services. How do I go about getting payment.

Unless you want to sue him after the job is done, ask to be paid in advance or as the work progresses.

In addition, if the work is on a house, you could file a mechanic's lien.
