Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
Injury
My girlfriend works for a small grocery store and had hurt her knee a while back. She is 16 and has had surgery and arthritis in her knee. She had very bad pains in her knee at the time she was at work. She works the cash register. She asked the manager if she could have a chair, because her knee hurt her so bad. The manager wouldnt give her a chair. She had stayed at work for 3 hours and was sent on brake. I came to see her on her brake and she was telling me how it was very swolen and how she couldnt walk. she was balling her eyes out as the manager came around the corner to tell her to come back in. My girlfriend explained how she couldnt stand on her leg and how the pain was unbearable. The manager told her to come back in and deal with it or quit. My girlfriend never said she quit. She sat there quiet because the manager wouldnt give her a better option. The manager said ''i guess since you wont answer me you quit'' and then she walked away. Is this legal and was it right for her to make up my girlfriends mind.

Re: Injury
If what you describe is accurate, it is not legal and is outrageous. It is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and warrants a complaint.
