Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
laid off for calling in sick
i was wondering if it is legal to fire someone if they have a doctors note saying that they should not have worked for two days. my employer told me not to come in the first day that my coworker would cover my shift. that leaving this man with a 18 hour day and then having to open 7 hours later. i called and told them that my doctor was making a special visit to the office to see me after his office hour at another location and was i was told by my employer not to come in; but to call in the morning. So i call in the morning and says not to come in and that i was not needed any more.
i would just like to know if this is legal or not? and if not then were can i go for information on what to do about this.
thank you

Re: laid off for calling in sick
Your message is a bit confusing, but let me just say that if you were disabled, and your boss knew about it, the termination of your employment may have been wronngful.
