Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I live and work in NYC and was suspended last week pending an investigation. I was contacted by phone and advised of this by the HR dept. When I asked what the allegations were I was told no further information was available to me. Today I got an e-mail from the HR dept. advising me of a meeting with one of their attorneys on Wednesday of this week at 3pm. I was calling and e-mailing the HR dept all last week asking what the investigation is about and will I be paid and no one would reply, I know I haven't done anything wrong and I'm not certain if I even working for them anymore due to way I was ousted and ignored and I worked for the company for 5 years. What is this meeting with the lawyer about, is this legal? and should I have a lawyer accompany me?

I would suggest that you attend this meeting and listen to what the have to say; however, do not admit to anything and do not sign anything -no matter how intimidating it may appear- until you have had the opportunity to at least consult with your own attorney.
