Loss of Employment

Recently I asked a question about a course online. The company to whom I sent the request then contacted my Employer and informed them that my diplomas were not adequately recognised, and my Employer 'fired' me based on that telephone call. Do I have any recourse against the company that contacted my employer without my authority or approval?

I do not handle these types of matters. My firm's practice in this area is restricted to employee benefits litigation.
