Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

lost of employment

i was rearend while standing next my car,on my way to work on april 7 2005,.i have been recieving therapy for close to 15 month.my wife is about redeploy to iraq for a second tour with the military.i have no choice but to return to work with injuries i have 4 herniated disc.i ask my boss that im have to come back to work but he tells me that i lost my position due the time i was out .am i coveredby any laws that protect a person for this type of situation.

If you were able to perform any work functions for the type of work that your employer engages in there may be some protections for you, but it is fact specific.
