Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

mandatory meetings at work

I am a part time hourly employee told that I am required to attend a mandatory meeting. If this meeting is mandatory, does my employer need to pay me for that time? And as a part time employee, can I be required to attend a meeting that will cause me to miss work at another location? (therefore causing me to lose income)

Re: mandatory meetings at work

Yes part-time employees can be mandated to go to meetings too. If they do, they must be compensated by their hourly wage.

If the employer balks contact an attorney or the state Labor Department.
