Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Medical coverage

I retired June 2006, age 61 from Quebecor World, knowing at the time I was entitled to medical coverage through the company. In Sept. 2006 I received a letter stating as of Oct. 1 2006 I was being put on COBRA for 18 months. My COBRA ends April 2008 and I have to find other medical insurance. I would like to know if the company had the legal right to do this not only to me but 66 other retirees under the age of 65. We were a union plant, but our medical was not in the contract. Can anything be done?

Re: Medical coverage

This is too complicated to answer without reviewing the various documents, the benefit plans etc. The simple answer is probably not.
