Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
Normal practice?
I have been ''separated'' from my company due to the reorganization of my department.
It was obvious to me that something was happening and the company was gearing up for a change though they never told me in anyway that a reoganization would occur.
A new director has hired a person with training I do not have though the position is basically the same. I was not asked to do additional training though I am well qualified to train.
I was not officially notified the position was advertised and a person hired. I left still not being ''officially'' told anything about this.
The company has offered me a package which I have accepted.
Now, before I have received anything, they are telling me that I need to sign a form of some sort. I was not asked to sing anything when we spoke about the package,in person, at the company.
I pretty much now believe that they want to be assured I will not sue and may hold me to sign this form/statement before they release the package. Is this legal? Is any of this legal? Is this all normal practice?
Thank you
