Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
Pension
My father worked in the Carpenter's Union for just under 20 years before he died, the Union says he was one hour shy of working his twentieth year and becoming vested...my question is...Is my mother entitled to any of the money he paid toward his pension for those nineteen years or any part of his pension?

Re: Pension
Are they denying your mother your father's pension benefits because he was one hour short of vesting? Sounds inconceivable, but strange things happen when money is involved. Do you have a copy of the pension plan and the vesting schedule? These documents should spell out the pension payout.
