Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Can they Do this?

Here my Problem 1 year ago this lawfirm i applied to interview me i told them i wasnt leaving prior job unless i was able to get certain amount also cause i was guaranteed prior job for min of 3 years after i was hired and left other job i was told it was less than i asked, it wasnt in writing, not too big deal, 1 yr later after takeover by another firm firm who hired me starts quietly firing the paralegals with no warning saying everything is fine, now im afraid im gonna be next do i have any rights if im terminated or layed off the job market is so bad in ny i wont ever get another job in legal field
