Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I was recently laid off and was told because the position is no longer available. But I knew I was being laid off because my new supervisor had an issue with me and I was being treated differently from my other coworkers by her. Then a few days ago, I see a job position of my exact position.

I feel as if I was fired for personal reasons that had nothing to do with my performance or lack of performance. I lost my job because my new supervisor had a personal issue against me. It could be anything, I was so different from the rest of the team. I was being harassed and was treated with double standards.

What are my options if I wanted to look further into this matter?

Although you can be terminated for any non-discriminatory reason, you failed to specify what you believe the motivation was behind the firing. Yes, you can legally be fired because your boss doesn't like you, but not if the reason he doesn't like you is because of your race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender.

At this point, you may wish to engage the services of a severance attorney to assist you in negotiating some type of compensation package for your years of service. If you have a valid claim against the company, you should discuss that as well.
