Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I recently received treatment for substance abuse. The facility where I was receiving treatment faxed confidential paperwork (disability, etc.) to my employer. An employee who had NO business knowing my whereabouts took it upon herself to send me mail at the rehab after taking the address off of the paperwork. The letter was sent "return to sender" but she then emailed the facility. Can any action be taken against her or my former employer for breach of confidentiality? Especially due to the nature of my medical disability? Thank you.
