Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I was recently terminated after 36 years. I am 62. I have a very specific question. I believe I stand a better chance of a severance package if I ask for it without an attorney (at first). Reason -- my ex employers have a long supportive history with me, and the top person had been a long time friend. If I ask without an attorney, does that hurt my chances at all of going back to them WITH an attorney to "demand" the same things? I am concerned that they are more likely to be receptive if I let them know my requests, than if I go at them right off the bat with an attorney involved.

You are more likely to do better with an attorney representing you on such a matter. Please call Chris Brennan at our office and he will discuss your case with you. Chris can be reached at 212-319-7600.
