Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Self Representation

Hi

I want to sue my last employer. How do I go about representing myself without a lawyer. Even if I don't win it's a matter of principal to show the offender that their actions cause consequences so please advise as to how I get started. I live in Queens and I worked in Manhattan. Thank you!

Re: Self Representation

Outside of going to law school or self-educating yourself by reading textbooks on legal process and the law, I don't know of any other way to competently represent oneself.

On the other hand, if you're less concerned about competence and more concerned about suing, you can usually visit the court clerk and ask for a PRO SE packet that provides basic advice for the self-represented.

Good luck!
